How agents pay
Every paid endpoint answers HTTP 402 with a machine-readable quote. The agent signs a gasless USDC transfer on Base (EIP-3009) and retries - one round trip, no account, no API key. Failed answers are never billed. Payments are settled on-chain by the Coinbase x402 facilitator and publicly auditable.
